How Does Moens Mouldings Implement All 6 R-Strategies? KIDV Highlights Our Approach
Reduce, Recover, Recycle, Resource, Reuse, and Rethink—the 6 R-strategies have become essential for companies committed to sustainable practices in the packaging industry. At Moens Mouldings, we have embraced these principles since 2016 to make our production more sustainable and efficient. Recently, the Knowledge Institute for Sustainable Packaging (KIDV) visited us to learn how we apply these strategies concretely in our daily operations.
In this in-depth interview with KIDV, our journey toward increased sustainability takes the spotlight. It emphasizes how our family business, despite its small scale, is making impactful strides toward more resourceful and efficient production. With short communication lines and strategic choices, we make a big impact as a small company in the rapidly changing packaging industry.
Innovation through Injection Compression Moulding
One of our key innovations is using Injection Compression Moulding, a technique that allows us to produce thinner but durable packaging. This approach reduces both material and energy consumption, contributing to sustainability and ensuring efficient processes throughout the entire chain—from production and transportation to workforce deployment. This innovation benefits both us and our clients.
The Future: Bio-Based Production
Alongside our current innovations, KIDV also explores the future of bio-based production, an area where we are already making great strides. With our ISCC++ certification, we can use bio-based materials in packaging production, such as caps for shampoo bottles. These materials are becoming increasingly important in our industry, and we are actively researching ways to expand our bio-based offerings.
